Research is focused on two broad programmatic themes, the ecology and management
of longleaf pine woodlands and their wildlife, and wetlands and aquatic resources.
Jones Center scientists conduct basic research to gain new fundamental knowledge
about water and land resources of the region, as well as applied research
focusing on current problems related to environmental quality and natural
resource management. This co-directed research requires cooperation between
researchers and information users. The goal of such working relationships
is to foster information transfer such that resource management plans and
policies are science-based, and research directives are designed to answer
relevant natural resource management questions.
